Longview's Crown Jewel
Rain or shine finds the health-conscious walking, jogging and biking the 3.5 miles of trails that wind under landscaped bridges past many species of trees and flowers in bloom, through rhododendron gardens and past the lake’s two spectacular fountains. A more leisurely stroll will allow you to learn about the planets or trees by way of the Planetary Walk or the Frank Willis Arboretum, or enjoy the captivating Japanese Gardens, splendid in any season. Kayaking, fishing, canoing and picnicking bring out families for a day of fun. Children or those young at heart can enjoy two unique playgrounds, while everyone loves relaxing to Concerts at the Lake on summer evenings and taking in the Go-4th event celebrating the Fourth of July holiday. During the week folks use the park to relax during lunch time, bringing a book or just visiting and watching the activity of children feeding birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. There truly is something for everyone at the lake, so add this gem to your list of things to do in Longview, and come down for a visit. You will see why we call Lake Sacajawea the city’s crown jewel…it always sparkles with activity!

The 'Go Fourth Festival', or Go4th Festival is "the largest annual family oriented festival in the greater Cowlitz County area of SW Washington State, held each year in Longview, Washington"!

You can find their web site @
gofourthfestival.org

Starting in the 60's, the festival now brings over 30,000 people to the 3-day blast of events. The pinnacle of the celebration is on the Fourth of July with a spectacular fireworks extravaganza. In the 80 year history of Longview, the Go4th Festival has become a fun family tradition for all around this area, drawing some as far away as central Oregon to watch the show.

With a 12% annual growth rate over the last 5 years, more and more visitors are finding the jewel of Longview, Washington! More than just a fireworks show, the Go Fourth Festival sports many other events, including an American Lumberman's Association (ALA) sanctioned Timbersport competition, including 3 World Championship events, lots of daily entertainment, arts & crafts booths, parade and more than 20 food booths.

The flea market is one of the most fun aspects, whether you want to find your next "great find" or a funky hat or shirt. Lots of fun stuff for kids and parents alike. Henna tattos and airbrush tattoos are always a fun item, and sunglasses, clothing, jewelry and music booths abound. Interesting booths, possibly sporting the "world's strangest reptile" also find their way in, along with the other artisans that produce beautiful work from around the Northwest. Local jams and other locally produced goodies will beckon you to take them home and enjoy during the warm summer months.

Lake Sacajawea simply teems with life, offering folks looking for fun plenty to do. The fireman's benefit "Hole-In-One" game, for the golf nuts and just plain interested, whets anybody's appetite with healthy prizes, such as a CAR or close to $5,000 in cash! You get a club and some balls, and go out to the quickly constructed tees on the shores of Lake Sacajawea, and aim for a small floating target, which seems miles away. (At least to me....)

There's a bouncy area, full of inflatable fun for kids, a petting zoo - on occassion, and lots of other fun stuff to do. Good, local, hometown fun at Lake Sacajawea for the GoFourth Festival!

The Go Fourth Festival is produced by the Go Fourth Festival Association, a non-profit organization of community volunteers who incorporated 30 years ago and diligently work to produce and direct the Festival each year. Many community businesses and non-profit groups contribute to the Festival on an annual basis. The Festival is self-funded each year through button sales, booth fees and generous donations from community sponsors, individual and business alike.
